Bujumbura, 2007-11-15 (Burundi Réalités Agence Presse) - Opposition parties have expressed their satisfaction over the appointment of the 14 November 2007. The leader of FRODEBU, Hon. Léonce Ngendakumana, indicates that ‘it is a cabinet that was appointed in accordance with the constitution“. He adds that it inspires hopes. He also stresses that the first task of the cabinet should be to find a solution to the FNL-PALIPEHUTU issue.
The leader of Uprona is also satisfied with this 6th appointment of the cabinet over the 2 years that the CNDD-FDD has been in power. He indicates that what is important is not the ‚people who have been appointed but the works that lie ahead.“
This cabinet that is hailed by opposition parties which have got their share in power presents some shortcomings. The most of the ministers were part of the previous cabinets which were characterized by bad performance.
The appointment of Clotilde Niragira to the civil service ministry does not inspire hopes. This minister failed to calm down few workers of the Justice ministry who have been on strike over the five last weeks. It is still doubtful that she will be able to manage the thousands of civil servants who are about to go on strike within a week if their demands are not satisfied as promised.
The current cabinet of national union is also likely to inherit the problems that characterized the past two years and for which donors still need explanations and probes.
